In Guadalajara: The Reunion was Perfect ...!

A year ago we said that a good conversation began in Guadalajara and that it would probably last for a long time, and that was demonstrated by the past 8 in June on the occasion of the 6 ° International Seminar "Cranberry Industry in Mexico: New Challenges, New Opportunities" .

We have to thank the hundreds of producers, exporters, technicians or advisors - Mexican and foreign - who actively participated in each of the moments of the meeting, and also highlight the great support of more than 50 Mexican and international companies, of the most diverse services, which sponsored, sponsored or supported the initiative with their presence, even surpassing the success of the previous year's meeting, not only because of the massive attendance and participation, but also because of the high level of the topics discussed, the relevance of the contents, and the quality of the researchers and experts who reported on the occasion.

Several days before the registrations were exhausted and the venue was little for so many attendees interested in talking and sharing about the knowledge of the crop, to successfully face the challenges that arise in the future.

It was a great day, focused on the challenges of the local industry, but without losing sight of the global scenario of production, the growth of demand and the reality of the market.

Among the hundreds of attendees linked to the industry, entrepreneurs and new investors intermingled, attracted because the evolution of cranberry cultivation in Mexico shows a sustained upward trend in recent years. The Mexican is an industry with a high level of technology, which has made it a world leader.

The relevance of the contents and the quality of the rapporteurs was the most outstanding point, which was also echoed by the media, such as the Televisa network, which interviewed Jorge Retamales, who talked about the interesting topic of the pruning, because "pruning is the task that takes more labor after the harvest, so its planning is very important ". Televisa also interviewed the international market analyst, Colin Fain, who broke down, crossed data and figures for the analysis of fluctuations and future prospects of the international market, "So that a producer who is thinking about exporting has a better idea of what is happening outside the country, to know where there are opportunities, because there are many things that can be answered by the data, such as which container to have, which fruit to send, where send that fruit, etc. and the data will give you the answer you should know to be able to take the best decisionss ".

Other interventions highlighted by the attendees, in addition to those already mentioned, were those of the Bachelor of Microbiology and Doctor of Science in Agronomy, Douglas Rodríguez, who spoke about the main pests and diseases of importance in Mexico and their control measures, and the presentation on the current situation of blueberry production in Mexico and the influence of possible competitors, presented by Driscoll's Director of Planning and Nurseries, Juan Carlos Cabrera.

As a finishing touch, the professor and researcher Bruno Defillipi, who has developed the subject of post-harvest for years, contributed with his relevant knowledge in an area that, due to the current and future situation of the economy, forces to look for new markets for our products, so that appropriate technology must be incorporated to reach the fruit in good condition to destinations that are increasingly distant.

It was all perfect in Guadalajara ... a great reunion, time was short and several issues have already emerged to address them in the near future, the conversation continues.

Thank you…!
