China: We increase the production of blueberries around 30% per year
Both the national consumption and the increased demand from other countries has caused Chinese producers to focus on the cultivation of this fruit. In this way, they have gone from having 800 tons, to about 1.200 tons in the last year. Among the varieties that stand out in the Asian country are the Northland, Bluecrop and Big Duke, characterized by its resistance to cold. These varieties are sold from April to August, both in China and in other countries.
"We do not know how many kilos we should plan for the export, since it is the first year that we proposed it. In any case, we are ready to send our blueberries wherever they are requested and for that we have different containers designed for the different markets"Says Hua Wang, of Qingdao Fumin Blueberry Professional Cooperatives.
