Advances the fight against the Lobesia botrana

The fight between the producers and the SAG against the plague of Lobesia botrana, also known as the vine moth, which today mainly affects grapes and blueberries, continues to show positive results.

In addition to the fall in total catches of the insect in the previous season, a few days ago the SAG raised some regulated areas for pest control in the Biobío Region, after corroborating that there were six biological cycles in which there were no detections of Lobesia, which will benefit ten producers of grapes and five of blueberries, with a total of 280 and 52 hectares, respectively.

For blueberry exports, the announcement implies that for entering certain markets, such as Korea, it will no longer be necessary to perform additional applications of agrochemicals or a pre-harvest prospecting. However, it does not mean that these berries can enter the USA. without the requirement of fumigation with methyl bromide, which will continue to be negotiated with that country in the next season.
