ASOEX gives the go to Chilean participation in Asia Fruit Logística 2017

The Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (Asoex) presented a renewed stand, for the opening day of Chile at Asia Fruit Logistica 2017 in Hong Kong.

The national stand, which was one of the most visited of the first day of the fair, included a sample and culinary tasting developed from Chilean seasonal fruits, especially blueberries, apples, avocados, kiwis and pears, prepared by the national chef settled in China, Ricardo González, with recipes based on cranberries and Chilean avocados.

The opening ceremony was attended by the former president, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle; the undersecretary of Agriculture, Claudio Ternicier; the director of ProChile, Alejandro Buvinc; Chile's agricultural attaché in China, Carlos Parra; the Chilean consul in China, José González and the president of Asoex, Ronald Bown. It also had the participation of about 40 Chilean export companies, more than 100 representatives of the industry and the Committees of Kiwi, Blueberries, Cherries and Avocados from Chile, among other authorities and media representatives.

"Asia Fruit Logistica is the most important platform in Asia and in China especially, where the global industry linked to the fruit sector meets. For this reason, this year we wanted to give a different tone to our participation, we wanted to celebrate the effort and great achievement of our industry in becoming the first supplier of fresh fruits in China. An achievement that shows the serious and committed work of our industry to deliver high quality fruit, safe and with the proper flavor to the consumers of this important Asian market. A work that has had, also with the support of the public sector, which we also highlight on this occasion"Said Ronald Bown, president of Asoex.

He also added that during the 2016-2017 season, Chile sent more than 260 thousand tons of fresh fruit to the China-Hong Kong market, a figure that leaves China with close to 50% of the total Chilean fruit exported to Asian markets .

In terms of species, table grapes lead shipments with 36,6% of the total volume of fruit exported to China-Hong Kong; followed by cherries with the 29%, plums 10,9%; kiwis 6,6%; avocados 5,5%; red apples 4,5% and blueberries 3,6%.

For his part, Marketing Director of Asoex for the markets of Asia and Europe, Charif Christian Carvajal, added that along with using the stand to inform the leadership of Chile in China, the occasion was also used to deliver badges to visitors with the number 1 in them, alluding to this position of leader.

Carvajal also highlighted the authorization in the national pavilion, of a special sector so that the participating companies and the representatives of the fruit committees could hold meetings with importers, distributors and retailers. "The meetings sector was a success. With a massive generation of contacts"He said.

He also added that "in this fair the most important importers and distributors of our fruits participate in Asia, especially in China, for which, we use this scenario to highlight Chile as a key supplier of quality fresh fruit, as well as to analyze our cherry promotion campaigns for the 2017-2018 season. A million-dollar, unique and creative campaign that seeks to boost the consumption of our cherries in China's winter. "

Recognition

Within the framework of the Chilean participation in Asia Fruit Logística 2017, Asoex and the Kiwi Committee, gave a recognition to Kurt Huang, representative of the Shanghai Wholesale Fruit Market, given the support for the development and growth of Chilean fruit.

The recognition was delivered by the president of Asoex, Ronald Bown and Elizabeth Kohler, technical manager of the Kiwi Committee.
